Privacy Policy
Effective July 15, 2026
Poppy is a word game for learning Korean and Japanese. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what we do with it. The short version: Poppy has no accounts, does not know who you are, does not show ads, and never sells data.
What we collect
Anonymous usage data. Poppy uses PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. This includes things like:
- How you move through the app: screens you visit, buttons you tap, game sessions you play
- Learning activity: which words you practice, whether you answered right or wrong, and how quickly
- Purchase activity: whether a trial or subscription was started, renewed, or cancelled (never payment details)
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, and language settings
- A random identifier created for your installation of the app. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and we cannot connect it to you
Like almost every internet service, the analytics servers receive your IP address when the app sends data, and use it to estimate an approximate location (like a city). We do not collect your precise location.
Nothing else. Poppy has no sign up and no account. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, or precise location. We do not show ads and we do not track you across other apps or websites. If you email us, we will see your email address, and we will only use it to reply.
Where your learning progress lives
Your full learning history and review schedule are stored on your device. If you delete the app, they are deleted with it.
Payments
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple and managed by your Apple Account. Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment details. We may test different prices for new subscribers; this does not change the price of a subscription you already have.
Who we share data with
- PostHog Inc. hosts our analytics on servers in the United States (their privacy policy)
- Apple processes purchases and subscriptions (their privacy policy)
We do not sell data to anyone, and we do not share it with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for as long as we need it to understand and improve Poppy, and no longer than our analytics provider retains it. Data on your device stays until you delete the app.
Children
Poppy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no names, emails, or accounts from anyone, there is no profile of any user, child or adult.
Your choices
Because the analytics identifier is random and anonymous, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to which person. If you want your analytics data deleted anyway, email us and we will work with you to find and delete it. Deleting the app stops all future collection and removes everything stored on your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
